Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070 Review: Power to Game

The Nvidia GeForce RTX series of graphics cards have been accepted into the mainstream, offering the best performance and features in an affordable price range. The RTX 2070, which we reviewed a while back, was a solid card that is capable of running most games at 1440p at close to 60fps. Since then, Nvidia has released the RTX 2080 and RTX 2080 Ti, which are aimed at providing the best performance and features in even lower price ranges. Today, we’re looking at the third tier of cards: the RTX 3070.

The new Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070 is a graphics card that will pave the way for the future of gaming. At the core of this GPU is an ultra-fast Turing GPU, which is built on the 16nm TSMC process to allow for higher clock speeds and lower power consumption than its predecessors. The Turing architecture is also the most advanced GPU on the market today—it’s faster than the Pascal and Maxwell architectures, and is able to deliver up to 30% better performance than the previous generation of cards. True to its name, the Geforce RTX 3070 also features a “Turing ray tracing” technology, which uses ray tracing to fill in gaps in the traditional rendering pipeline, allowing for enhanced realism of games and faster performance

Nvidia has been on a roll lately and the GeForce RTX cards have become the obvious choice for gamers looking to get the most bang for their buck. We’ve had a couple of weeks to put them to the test and find out how well they perform in games.

Nvidia’s new super-powerful graphics cards came out as always to great applause from the gaming community, especially the company’s flagship RTX 3080 and 3090 cards. These high-end GPUs offer the perfect 4K gaming setup, but they’re also very expensive – $700 for the 3080 and $1500 for the 3090. /p> However, if you’re in the $500 price range for a new console and are sick of buying one – or if you just love PC gaming – the RTX 3070 would be a much more comfortable bet with few significant compromises. There’s a lot of good stuff about 3070. The card uses the same amp GA104 GPU as the RTX 3080 and RTX 3090, although it’s not as powerful for obvious reasons. This ensures that the card has all the new and impressive features of the RTX series. These include ray tracing and Nvidia’s impressive DLSS AI technology, which can increase frame rates (significantly in some cases).

Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070 Overview: Game performance

word-image-11395 To put things in a more immediate perspective: At $200 less than the RTX 3080, the 3070 is often significantly better than last year’s $1,000 RTX 2080 Ti. The 3070 delivers high detail in 1080P and 1440P and performs very well in 4K resolution, at least for now. Sure, 4K HDTVs are pretty common, but PC monitors of this level are not so common. For games like Fortnite, Call of Duty: Warzone, andGears of War 5, the frame rate at 1440p is well over 100fps in our tests. Fortnite with DLSS performance mode enabled shows over 200 frames per second, even less in quality mode. Other games with notorious engines like Control and Metro Exodus have benefited greatly from Nvidia’s DLSS technology. Controls in 4K with full details and ray tracing is z. B. a slide show without them (fade in moments at 12 +/- fps). With DLSS enabled, the game keeps it at an acceptable 60fps. At 1440p however, the same DLSS with high details and ray tracing climbs to almost 100 fps for Control. Another amazing benefit appears in Minecraft. Nvidia has worked hard to create a truly impressive demonstration of ray tracing capabilities in a sandbox game. While the feature is currently officially supported and no longer in beta, it is still only available on certain cards labeled RTX. However, the effects are excellent. The lighting and liquid effects are ethereal and give the cards a rich look. Nvidia has proven to be a reliable specialist in updating drivers to new versions. As a result, we expect the 3070 to maintain exceptional performance levels in most future games, even if the gain is not as high as that of the 3080. word-image-11396 Testing the 3070 with 3D Mark produced impressive results. We installed the card in an Acer Predator Orion 5000, which is equipped with an Intel i7-8700K processor and 16GB of RAM. The 3DMark Time Spy benchmark results are considered excellent with a score of 11,153 (or better than 91% of all 3DMark results). So, in terms of pure benchmarks, the 3070 is not to be outdone. To be fair, the frame rate stress test isn’t always the best way to judge the performance of a graphics card. Even with a dedicated 4K resolution, after some minor tweaks to the graphics settings, you could barely find a game unplayable on the 3070 in some games. For gamers who are still comfortable with 1080P, the 3070 is definitely a new card that offers high HD performance without compromise. word-image-11397 There are a few other reasons to prefer the 3070 over the 3080. First, it consumes about 100 watts less than the 3080, so the cooling is a bit lighter (and quieter). Nvidia recommends a power supply of at least 650W for the card to work. The 3070 also has a smaller footprint, measuring just over 9 inches (compared to the 3080, which is just under 12 inches). This means it fits more easily into a variety of enclosures, making it a better choice for more compact installations. The RTX 3070 also features three DisplayPort 1.4a outputs and one HDMI 2.1 port, allowing it to work with up to four monitors if needed.

Nvidia Geforce RTX 3070 Overview –Results

  • 200 cheaper than the next card in the series
  • Better than last year’s powerful RTX 2080
  • DLSS technology makes ray tracing and extreme graphic effects smooth and beautiful.
  • The small size, low power consumption and large number of monitor connectors allow for use in a variety of enclosures.

  • 500 is still a lot of money
  • 8GB RAM could be a problem for future 4K games
  • If you only play in 4K, you’ll probably have to spend about $200 more for the 3080.

The general rule for building and upgrading a gaming PC is as follows: Take as much power as you can afford. No matter how you look at it, spending $500 to over $1000 on a single part is always painful. If you’re looking for a compromise between price and very high performance, you’ll find an excellent graphics card in the Nvidia RTX 3070. The Nvidia RTX 3070 is currently the best mid-range card on the market. It easily surpasses anything AMD offers in this price range, and it’s close enough to the high-end cards that it doesn’t feel like a painful compromise. In 1440p and 1080p modes, this card does everything we asked of it with maximum detail and ray tracing, thanks in part to Nvidia’s DLSS. For 4K, this card is still exceptional, and our biggest downside is that with only 8GB of built-in RAM, it’s possible that new games will require some visual reduction in the coming year. Of course, the $200+ RTX 3080 may also have this problem, since it only has 10GB. But it’s hard to say if it will make a difference in the next few years. [Note: Nvidia provided the RTX 3070 GPU used for this review].Nvidia’s new RTX graphics cards are arguably the most powerful graphics cards you can get today—but that doesn’t mean they’re perfect for everything. That’s especially true when it comes to gaming, where our need for vast amounts of graphical power can often outweigh the desire to save money.. Is a RTX 3070 Good enough?

To be honest, I have a very hard time picking up a new graphics card. For Nvidia, in particular, I’ve had a hard time trying to find a good one. I mean, I’ve had good luck with their previous generation cards, but dies I’ve gone from the 1080 to the 2070, I just couldn’t seem to enjoy the experience. And then the 230 went out, followed by the 2080, and now the 3070. I have been a gamer for a long time and when the new Nvidia Geforce RTX series was announced I knew it was going to be a game changer. Instead of a major leap in pure gaming performance I have found the new RTX to be a great addition to my gaming setup. While the RTX series may not be the best gaming card on the market, it is by far the best in the Geforce line.
